Peggy Pink and Red Risotto

Last weekend I tried the amazing cupcakes at Peggy Porschen and two beautiful Italian dishes at Santini.

Peggy Porschen Cakes is the cutest bakery (I would say) in London and it is THE perfect photo opportunity! I have wanted to go for a little while now but was waiting for their new Autumn flower display outside and it was definitely worth the wait. I absolutely love the attention to detail – pastel pumpkins, little bats on the windows and golden halloween-themed skulls hidden in the flowers. It is safe to say it is the least scary halloween decor I have ever seen but that just makes me like it even more!

Now for the important part – the cake! They are hands down the best cupcakes I have ever had! I chose the red velvet cupcake with a vanilla and chocolate sponge, topped with silky smooth vanilla cream cheese frosting. My friend chose the spiced pumpkin monthly special which came with a spiced pumpkin sponge and cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Equally as tasty and equally as beautiful!

To accompany our delicious treats, we both chose homemade hot chocolate which we were again ‘wowed’ by. They came with chocolate dust sprinkled on top in two different designs which were like a work of art in their own right.

I wore my favourite knee high suede black boots from Stuart Weitzman, a grey knitted jumper from Brandy Melville (find a similar one here) my new dusty pink faux shearling jacket from Zara.

Following our morning hot chocolate and cupcake, we went for lunch at an Italian restaurant called Santini which is about a 5 minute walk from Peggy Porschen. I had no idea beforehand that the restaurant is very well established and was in fact Frank Sinatra’s favourite restaurant in London!

We chose to share their ‘Santini’ Chopped Salad with romaine lettuce, green apple, avocado, sweetcorn, chicken, blue cheese, crispy bacon and a mustard dressing. It was SO delicious!

We then had their mouth watering Risotto Di Mare (seafood risotto). The overall flavour was strong but it had a perfect balance between sweet tomato sauce and fish. I sometimes find that risotto can become a bit repetitive with each mouthful being the same as the previous however this was so well seasoned and the portion wasn’t too big.

Overall I had a very filling Sunday and would highly recommend going to both the bakery and this restaurant!

Please comment if you know any more yummy bakeries as I would love to try them! I hope you enjoyed reading.
